The nearest Airport to our destination is Almeria. A pleasant journey of around 30 minutes west on the N.340 – passing Roquetas de Mar, El Ejido and Adra - brings us to the beachside village of Balanegra.
Alternatively one may fly into Malaga International Airport taking the coastal route east from the Airport passing through Nerja, Almunecar, Solobrena and Motril. Journey time to Balanegra from Malaga International Airport is about two and a half hours. There are, however, many more flights from the UK to Malaga than to Almeria Balanegra is a typical Spanish seaside village.
Once dependant on fishing the area now counts agriculture as its main industry.
Although much ‘less’ discovered than many similar seaside villages, Balanegra has every facility for a comfortable lifestyle. A variety of little shops serve the local community.
Plenty of friendly bars and inexpensive restaurants too - for those who seek an active social life.
Well within a 30 minute drive from Balanegra are the Golf Courses at Envia and Almerimar. A similar distance away is the beachside resort of Roquetas de Mar where one can find all the attractions of a typical Spanish tourist resort.
Interesting day trips include the Provincial Capital Almeria, historic Granada and winter skiing at Sol y Nieve.
